TWO LIFE SENTENCES FOR FIRST DEGREE MURDER THROWN OUT BY FEDERAL APPEALS COURT

Clients were convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life without parole. Clients hired Criminal Defense Attorney Richard Della Fera to appeal the convictions. After carefully examining the court transcripts, Della Fera demonstrated that the trial judge’s comments about witnesses’ testimony and credibility during the trial before the jury were unfairly prejudicial. The appeals court agreed and further held that the error was not harmless. As a result, both clients’ convictions and life sentences were overturned.
